Taking the first step can feel like the hardest part. There is no pressure and no commitment in reaching out. If you would like to talk, I am here.
Below are some of the areas I have experience of working with. This is not a complete list, so if what you are experiencing isn't here, please feel free to get in touch. Whatever your situation, I am here to help.
The fertility journey can feel deeply isolated. You may be considering lone parenting or coping with unsuccessful attempts to conceive. You may have had test results that point to unexplained fertility, or that have identified issues affecting your journey.
Everyday life can become difficult to navigate. Certain events may trigger painful feelings, and you may feel guilt for stepping back from invitations. Many people describe a recurring cycle of hope and loss, and the exhausting effort of holding on to hope to carry them through to the next stage.
This journey can also affect your relationship with your partner, or with the people around you, particularly when your feelings and experiences differ from theirs.
Counselling offers a space to process all of this. Together we can draw on your inner resources to bring clarity to important decisions, support healing, and help you care for yourself along the way.
I trained as an Accredited Specialist Fertility counsellor. While I no longer work within an assisted conception clinic setting, I continue to support clients through their fertility and treatment journeys as part of my ongoing work in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Living with hormonal or gynecological conditions can affect how you feel, both physically and emotionally, every single day.
PMS, PMDD, perimenopause, and menopause can have a real impact on your wellbeing, and it can feel like something you are facing alone. Counselling offers a space to explore that impact, understand the patterns and needs within your own experience, and work towards a more compassionate way of meeting those needs.
Gynecological conditions such as Endometriosis and Adenomyosis can shape daily life in ways others don't always see. You may be managing pain or other symptoms. You may feel well enough to make plans one day, then find you can't follow through when the day arrives. You may notice you feel different physically on different days or your energy and pain levels alter. You may feel that people around you don't understand the condition, or the toll it takes.
While I am not a hormone or Women's Health Medical Specialist, counselling can offer a space to explore your journey, understand its impact, and recognize your needs within it. My hope for you is that this helps you make positive adjustments in your life and find greater clarity and understanding in your situation.
Pregnancy and baby loss can be devastating, and it is not unusual to feel that others cannot fully be present with you in this difficult experience or understand what you are going through.
How, when your loss happened, your experience is unique to you. You may be carrying grief that others expect you to have moved on from. Whatever the circumstances, you are not alone, and there is space here to talk through your experience.
My NHS practice has specialized in this area for over 14 years. In that time, I have supported women, men, and couples through pregnancy and baby loss, through difficulties during and after pregnancy, and following traumatic birth experiences, helping them to heal and come to terms with their experience.
Counselling offers a space to explore how these experiences have affected you, and to begin working towards healing on your own journey.
We all feel anxious at times, and certain life events and circumstances can raise that anxiety to a level that feels hard to manage. Sometimes we act in the ways we think others expect of us, out of fear of what they might think, and end up feeling even more anxious as a result.
Counselling offers a space, free of judgement, to explore your worries and the situations that unsettle you. Together we can look at the reasons behind them, work towards feeling more at ease with who you are and what you need and consider and explore techniques that can help reduce the impact of anxiety on your daily life.
Sometimes the difficulties we face are rooted in our work. This might be relational or centered on bullying or harassment. It might show up as low self-esteem, or as questions about direction and purpose. Often these pressures arrive alongside things happening in our personal lives, and together they can leave us feeling as though our life has lost its balance.
I have over 23 years of specialist experience in NHS staff psychological support, first as a staff counsellor and later, for many years, as a senior staff counsellor. In that time, I have supported people through a wide range of workplace and personal challenges, helping them find some resolution to what they were facing, or begin to heal.
Whatever is weighing on you, counselling offers space to set it down, make sense of it, and work towards feeling more like yourself again.
